"Print is the oldest and most established medium of mass communication. But the world is evolving and it's time to embrace the future with digital" ever since 2012, the world accepted new media as a source of information. Because of the rapid influence of technology and the internet to the world.
through out history print media has been terrorist and has scared the country up until now. no matter what happen print media or digital media has been us for political reason and the most memorable one is with the time of the Marcos administration. taking back to memory lane
during the Marcos regime (1965-1986) his administration has plenty of problem and one of them is press freedom and this mainly caused by when Marcos declared martial law. He feared the power of media and with this he made sure that all media are under his control. Marcos use the reason of privatizing the the media to raise propaganda against the government. and in line with this his made a presidential decree to penalize all media that will undermine the integrity of the government. and that everyone and all media information relayed to the public was highly censored and whom that will not follow will be arrested and denied due process.
next up is Corazon Aquino administration or post martial law (1986-1992) with the people revolution that made the downfall of the dictatorship of president Marcos and made Corozan Aquino the first female president and with her term she jump started with the 1987 constitution and given the freedom to the people that Marcos took form them. during here term democracy was rebuilt but she filed a case to one journalism due to the statement that she was hiding under her bed during one mutiny during 1987 and national telecommunication council order the closure of 2 rebel propaganda radio station and 21 journalist was killed during her term.
then came Ramos administration (1992-1998) during his term the only information on media is that it was used to uplift and pursuing democracy. but CMFR monitoring showed that under his administration a total of 11 member of media was killed.
Estrada administration (1998-2001) with Aquino and Ramos didn't get involve much with the media, Estrada was more involve with media he pressure some media to critic him and his administration.but inquire daily was one of the media at the receiving end of the pressure given by the administration and that was accused that the inquirer was bias. and also manila times was affected with his administration.

Next is Arroyo administration (2001-2010) was marred by libel suit, raid and single deadliest attack against the media. the end of 2009 was a terrible year for the press freedom when the single deadliest attack against the media happened when 32 journalists among the 58 killed in a massacre in Ampatuan, Maguindanao province. They were attacked, brutally killed, and buried using a government-owned backhoe. The powerful Ampatuan clan was an ally of the Arroyo administration and it was believed that they have plotted the massacre to derail the candidacy of political rival Esmael "Toto" Mangudadatu in the 2010 gubernatorial elections. many people said that arroyo is the most number killed journalist after the post marcos era.
Next Up is the son of the first lady is Benigno Aquino III (2010-2016), during his administration he was know as press for Balanced. he wanted to control media but he wanted to be fair and it led to nothing.but under this administration he lied about the number of journalist that was killed and the total number is 31. his administration is the second of the most higher killed after arroyo's administration.
lastly is the current administration the Duterte administration, was known for the colorful relation with media. and he stated that journalist in the Philippine are legitimate target of assassination. This was just the start of his tirades against the media. Barely two years into his presidency, Duterte and his government have continuously threatened, harassed, and made antagonists out of several media outlets. and within his term he attacked each media station in the Philippine Several organization both local and international – have called out this action as an act against press freedom. and this is only the start.
with this through out history its not only the people who use the media as a weapon but eve the government itself uses it and that within time people just use it to fight for freedom while government will use it to safe their own-self so administration will not be ruin to the public. the state lack the courage to let media speak what the public wants more than what the government want to let the people know. and here everyone can see that not only because media network and station are privately own but like people and government it still being use as a weapon.
and given the facts the question is still raised that when will media be safe and free to say what are really supposed to be open to public. because through out history there will always be journalists that will be kill in order to protect the name of a political dynasty or the image of the government but even though the media is always constrained the truth always flow out.
with the current administration it only started but the administration already terrorist the media and harassed them and what good will that be if it continue? will the media and journalist will be safe to speak the true or will the media just back down and let the government control what the media will say and what will the media let the public read.
while media has been threaten by the government, the people still find a way to use media as a voice of freedom and a form of protest and with this leads to propaganda statement against the government. and soon after with media slowly growing into a basic part of people life. media play a role on how people view and understand what is happening in the world and in their country.
with the current administration 2 years has been a great slap to the face of the people and to the media itself. in the 2 years of Duterte's terms 4 media groups has already recorded 85 cases against freedom that exceed the 4 past president. that journalist while doing their job must carry on the burden of being harrassed by propaganda supporter of duterte the moment he sat to power. one of the greatest example is mocha uson bringing the word "presstitute" that clearly mean that by a single or group of people that are involve with media that are giving unbaised information but still tailoring someones goal such as companies and people that are affiliated with politics. and how did the government react to this? by giving Mocha Uson a position in the government as assistant secretary of the president communication operation office.
