League of Filipino Students
The League of Filipino Students (LFS) was founded on September 11, 1977. It originally started as an alliance in opposition to the tuition fee increase and school repression during the Martial Law, and then eventually became a national democratic mass organization in 1982.
Being one of the largest student organizations in the Philippines, the LFS arranges discussion forums to increase the socio-political awareness of the youth, releases statements and posts about political events and/or issues happening, organizes mass mobilizations and other types of protests, hosts trainings and seminars, reaches out with integration plans with the indigenous, fishermen, workers, urban poor and many more.
Anakbayan was founded on the birthday anniversary of Andres Bonifacio – November 30, 1998. It is a national democratic mass organization which seeks to unite the Filipino youth. Anakbayan already has hundreds of chapters nationwide fighting for jobs, land reform, education, rights of the people, social services and justice.
Gabriela Women's Party
The Gabriela Women’s Party was founded on October 28, 2000. The party promotes the rights of marginalized Filipino women through involvement in the country’s democratic system and structures of power. It strives to harness the capability, creativity, and leadership of women towards empowerment, righteousness and fairness.
Kabataan Party-list
The Kabataan Party list was founded on 2001 and it is the first and only youth party-list group in the Congress.
The party list campaigns for the youth and the students’ interests and needs regarding education and employment. Some of its founding organizations are the National Union of Students, College Editors Guild, the League of Filipino Students, Student Christian Movement of the Philippines, Anakbayan and Kabataang Artisa para sa Tunay na Kalayaan.
The mission of the party list involves inspiring the youth to work with different sectors to be able to build a better future. It supports, encourages and protects the interests of the youth to utilize its abilities as a sector.
